Start of Workshop on Management and Conservation of archives and heritage libraries at the Pan American University of Guadalajara, Mexico


The Pan American University Library In conjunction with the CODICIS Consortium, it has begun its “Workshop on Management and Conservation of Heritage Archives and Libraries” that aims to develop in those who guard the bibliographic and documentary heritage of the region, the necessary capabilities for its safeguarding. This activity began on Friday, September 1, 2023 and will take place on Fridays and Saturdays of the months of September, October and November.

20 students with multidisciplinary profiles and from different institutions participate in the training: teachers, students and retirees from our institution, as well as interns and thesis students from the State Public Library and librarians from various public institutions, such as the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí and WITH WATER.

We will have the participation of professors from the University of Barcelona (Spain), the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (Bolivia), the University of Piura (Peru) and the University of Catania (Italy), as well as professors from our university.

82 hours will be worked in hybrid mode to develop in the participants the sensitivity and necessary skills involved in the conservation and safeguarding of our documentary heritage. The workshop will conclude with the inauguration of the conservation laboratory facilities that, thanks to the CODICIS project, the Pan American University, has implemented.
