The UDEP will host a symposium on the conservation of documentary heritage

The symposium “Conservation and Management of Documentary Heritage” will take place at Campus Piura on October 24 and 25. It will bring together national and international professionals, with experience in the topics addressed.

The Central Library, the Faculty of Humanities and the Directorate of International Relations of the University of Piura, within the framework of the Erasmus + Project, Codicis (financed by the European Commission), organize the “Regional Symposium on Conservation and Management of Documentary Heritage, Good Practices and Current Possibilities”, which will take place in October, at Campus Piura, in hybrid mode.

The objective of the event is to highlight the importance of the conservation, management and dissemination of documentary heritage (archival and bibliographic), through the presentation of experiences carried out in archives and libraries in Peru and the world.

To do this, there will be the participation of specialist professionals from the Luis E. Valcárcel Center & Archive, of the Autonomous University of Mexico, the LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections of the University of Austin-Texas, and the House of Peruvian Literature. , from the Piura Regional Archive, from the National Library of Peru, from the General Archive of the Nation, from the Ande Portal. Sources for the cultural history of Peru and the National Museum of Peruvian Culture.

The symposium will include the inauguration of the exhibition “Documentary Legacy at UDEP”, by the Library of the University of Piura.

Thematic tables

This activity will be carried out around four thematic tables: Good archival management practices, Conservation experiences of documentary heritage, Digitization experiences and Conservation and management experiences of documentary heritage in museums and universities.

The interested public can register to participate in person or virtually and for free, here. The in-person event will be at the UDEP Piura Campus.
Those attending the sessions on October 24 and 25 will obtain a certificate awarded by the Codicis project and the University of Piura, for their participation.
