Within the framework of the activities of the Codicis project, staff from the Library, UDEP International and the Faculty of Humanities had a working meeting in Guadalajara, Mexico.<\/p>\n
This first meeting of the coordinating team of the Codicis project was held at the facilities of the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico. The coordinators of the consortium from Bolivia, Spain, Italy, Mexico and Peru participated, who shared the progress of the work packages for the coming months.<\/p>\n
Cristina Vargas, director of International Relations at the University of Piura and professor at the Faculty of Humanities, shared details about the reformulation and local adaptation of the specialization course as a replica of the training course for trainers in management and conservation of archives and heritage libraries. This specialization will be aimed at members of six Latin American universities: Benem\u00e9rita Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Puebla, Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Boliviana San Pablo, Universidad Cat\u00f3lica San Pablo, University of Piura<\/strong><\/a>, Universidad Mayor de San Andr\u00e9s and Universidad Panamericana.<\/p>\n For their part, members of the UDEP Library visited archives and libraries in Guadalajara, in order to learn about the reality and treatment of collections, especially their historical and ancient collections. They highlighted the visit to the Juan Jos\u00e9 Arreola Public Library, since its conservation and restoration area has a model laboratory.<\/p>\n In addition, they participated in the regional symposium \u201cDocumentary and bibliographic heritage: sources and research techniques\u201d, organized by the Universidad Panamericana. This covered topics related to heritage studies in libraries and archives, digitization of files and documents, and conservation of historical archives.<\/p>\n Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Andrade, director of the UDEP Library System, highlighted the importance of the next stage of the project \u2013 the training of future trainers \u2013 in the specialization course that will be led by the University of Barcelona (Spain) and the Universid\u00e0 degli Studi di Catania (Italy). Likewise, he commented that fundamental aspects were reviewed to ensure the sustainability of the project and the development of proposals that involve the assessment of documentary heritage.<\/p>\n The Codicis project for \u201cStrengthening capacities for the Recovery and Conservation of Documentary and Bibliographic Heritage in Latin America\u201d began in 2021. In October of that year, the European good practices conference on bibliographic and documentary heritage was held.<\/p>\n On October 24 and 25, 2022, the Regional Symposium on Conservation and Management of Documentary Heritage will be held at Campus Piura.
